You've probably heard of Ozempic, Wegovy, or Zepbound. These medications — known as GLP-1s — have become some of the most talked-about treatments in the last few years, helping people manage their weight and reduce the health risks that come with it.
For a long time, Medicare wouldn't cover these for weight loss. An old federal rule blocked it. But as of July 1, 2026, that's changed — at least for now. Medicare has launched a new pilot program called the GLP-1 Bridge that gives eligible members access to certain weight management medications for a flat $50 copay per fill. It's currently set to run through the end of 2027, with the possibility of more permanent coverage to follow.¹
This class walks you through what it covers, whether you might qualify, and what to expect if you decide to use it.
